REALIZER mic drop session 2– The Powerhouse of Tradeshows: IPIN LABS

I became acquainted with Seongjun Kim, the Global Project Lead at IPIN LABS, on LinkedIn for REALIZER’s market research. SJ grew up in France and obtained his B.S. in bioengineering in Switzerland. He is in charge of strategy and global business development in a pre-A deep tech startup.
“I met Bre, the global market developer from REALIZER a year ago. She reached out to me on Linkedin to conduct research for their lead management solution. We became closer business acquaintances because IPIN LABS needed a lead management solution like REALIZER since we go to many trade shows.”

A great startup needs great leadership and faith in the product.
IPIN LABS provides a 2D Digital Twin with real-time asset location tracking features to help companies with large indoor facilities enhance operational efficiency and workplace safety.
“I wanted to join a small and ambitious B2B startup, where I can lead the company’s growth and also that could work with multiple industry leaders. That’s what we are doing now.”

Never-ending trade shows
SJ is seen attending multiple trade shows globally on LinkedIn. His posts are fascinating but also make me wonder: What challenges are faced?
“Fixing my schedule in advance is near impossible as there are so many uncertainties in the life of an early-phase startup member. Sometimes, there are overlaps in schedules and I have to decide which event to go to. Most of my attendance is last minute and it can be stressful.”
What is your biggest takeaway while attending tradeshows overseas and locally (Korea)?
Be passionate but do not waste energy
“Our product is for a specific type of people. During the first trade shows, our team was very actively selling the product, but since then, we realized we only need to talk to people for example who look at our TV screen (PoC video) with high focus to assess that this person has been looking for this kind of solution and could be a potential client.”
Knowing what kind of ideal customer profile is beforehand or attaining an accurate buying signal quickly is important.
The tracking of buying signals doesn’t just end at the trade show.
Once attendees scan the QR code from REALIZER, IPIN LABS can track their viewing rates and decide on the leads to prioritize.
Before the meeting:
Preparing and connecting with attendees with LinkedIn and Sales Navigator are game changers—we can find the right people to talk to, and even though the return rate is not high, it provides good business opportunities.
For example, I was able to connect with Bouygues Telecom (French telco) before Viva Tech and we met over there. They assist us in our private 5G positioning R&D.”

The solution when quantity triumphs over quality
I remember meeting SJ during a meeting, and he showed me how he collected his leads. He was thorough with his lead management on a Google spreadsheet, but eventually, he said keeping it updated was difficult.
“After the meeting: leads management is really important. But for now, the process for our team is not quite optimal. We manually write down the interaction (who this person is, what the person said, and write it down on the business card/ smartphone note app) and upload it to our Google spreadsheet file. However, that is too much of a hassle
“Fortunately, we found REALIZER AI. We only have to key in on REALIZER’s solution and the information is integrated into Google spreadsheet.”
Stop researching, start talking to people. You never know who you will meet.
